The Baha’i House of Worship stands as a symbol of unity. It is a sacred space for all people to commune with God. The House of Worship is open daily to all for contemplation, personal prayer and meditation. The building’s white walls of lace-like ornamentation, and its dome rising 135 feet above the main floor, create a scene of unsurpassed beauty and tranquility. Exquisite gardens and fountains surround the Temple, and directly, to the west, is a Welcome Center, where visitors may explore the history and symbolism of this unique structure and watch a brief introductory film. Designated on the National Register of Historic Places.

CHARLES GATES DAWES HOUSE

The magnificent mansion of former U.S. Vice-President Charles Gates Dawes is located adjacent to Lake Michigan. This National Historic Landmark has been faithfully restored to its 1920s origins and enhanced with exhibits focusing on Evanston history. Docent led tours of the house take place a few times daily Thursday through Sunday. Spring, summer and fall, lively docent-led walking tours of Evanston neighborhoods, downtown, and the lakefront are offered. The tours provide fun and fascinating insights into the history of Evanston, its architecture, and the cultural landscape.

The Chicago Botanic Garden opened more than 40 years ago as a beautiful place to visit, and it has matured into one of the world’s great living museums and conservation science centers. There’s 27 gardens and four natural areas, uniquely situated on 385 acres on and around nine islands, with six miles of lake shoreline. The Garden also has a renowned Bonsai Collection. Enjoy seasonal festivals, tours by train or on foot, art exhibitions, and lots of ways for families to learn about the wonders of nature.

Featuring the groundbreaking, multi-million dollar Take a Stand Center, an immersive permanent exhibition with a forward-looking emphasis on multiple areas of social justice and the World Premiere of the interactive, holographic Survivor Stories Experience. ! The Museum is open to the public with the following hours: Wednesdays – Sundays from 10 am – 5 pm, with last entry at 4:00 pm. RAVINIA FESTIVAL

Ravinia, North America’s oldest music festival, stands today as its most musically diverse, presenting over 140 different events throughout the summer. These concerts run the gamut from Yo-Yo Ma to John Legend to the annual summer residency of the nation’s finest orchestra, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The 36-acre park is nestled in a gently wooded area that makes it an enchanting place to experience music. Guests can bring their own picnics or eat at one of the park restaurants.

HALIM TIME AND GLASS MUSEUM

Showcasing two magnificent collections of time pieces and stained glass by America’s greatest artists. More than 30 masterpiece windows tell the story of the American School of Stained Glass. Tiffany, Tillinghast, Lamb, Sperry – these are only a few of the masters on display. Explore beauty and craftsmanship as you travel through time on a journey to discover the art and science of time keeping. Over 1,100 timepieces are on display including tower clocks, chronometers, automatons, pocket watches and tall case clocks. Beautifully restored and preserved, the collection is one of the finest in the world.

GROSSE POINT LIGHTHOUSE

Built on the shores of Lake Michigan by the United States Government in 1873 as the lead lighthouse marking the approach to Chicago after several shipwrecks demonstrated its need. In 1999, Grosse Point Lighthouse was designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service; the first lighthouse on the Great Lakes to carry that status. The Garden Club of Evanston maintains wildflower and butterfly gardens on its property.

SKOKIE NORTHSHORE SCULPTURE PARK

A collaboration of public and private advocates turned an eyesore into this beautiful park that runs for two miles from Dempster Street to Touhy Avenue in Skokie and displays more than 60 sculptures by artists of local, national and international reputation. A lovely landscaped and easily accessible place to stroll, rollerblade or bicycle. Free monthly public tours offered by well-trained volunteer docents. Private group tours available for a nominal charge.

Using sustainable practices, they grove and distribute season produce, herbs, and flowers to farmer markers, food pantries and l local restaurants.
